Animation timeline / storyboard not saving.

Hi.

I have a problem with the animation workspace in F360. I wish I could share the file but it's a work related product that I'm unable to show.

The product is basically a few components: A PCB, a casing consisting of a backshell and a cover, and a few screws holding everything together. So far no problem.

I set the parts up in the animation workspace in order to create an exploded view for my drawings.

We have a timeline with my components moving away from each other and we use this animation when we make the drawing.

Everyting has worked out this way fine in the past. I made great drawings this way six months ago.

But this time I came back to the project to swap out one of the parts. I did this by jumping back to the design workspace and replacing the part, this has also always worked fine in the past. But this time when I returned to the animation workspace everything was gone. The storyboard, the timeline, everything in the animations workspace was reset.

I tried opening an older version, start out in the animations workspace, click design workspace, and then back again to animation to see everyting gone again.

What is going on? This is incredibly frustrating. Best regards.

Thanks for reporting this. If you can share the design privately with me, via share link and DM, or email, please let me know.

@Phil.E

I am sorry but I can not share the file I'm afraid (Unreleased product for a large client of ours).

However I tried doing the same procedure on a similar (almost identical) project of ours and I had zero issues. Hopping from design to animation workspace is working as intended and all is saved.

I'm almost thinking that something got corrupted. If I open an older version of this project and hop between the workspaces, I can see the animation storyboard and timeline data flash for halv a second before leaving those fields blank.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for sharing the details about the issue! Could you please help to answer the further questions to help us identify the root cause:

  • As you mentioned that your component has a PCB, did you created it in Fusion electronics workspace?
  • If you could replicate the crash with the corrupt project, could you try to remove the suspicious models/items one by one and try switching to animation workspace?
Regards,
Sally

@SallyYang

Hi,

The PCB is a step model that we import from OrCad PCB Editor.
I can do some experimenting with removing models, however this issue is something that came up recently, and without us really making any changes.

Even early versions of the project now behave this way when I load them.

Hi @martin_voss, thanks for the confirmation!

Do you think it's a regression caused by Fusion update? If so, I can forward this issue to the team that working on Animation workspace.

Sally
