All Fusion my 360 files are opening in browser instead of app

Hi,

When I tried using Fusion360 (APP) this morning to edit a model  initially the admin project wasn't listing. Then once I'd opened that clicking open on any of the models opens the browser instead of in the app.

  • Models are all native Fusion360 so not an unsupported type issue.
  • I've checked and Fusion360 is on latest version.
  • If I click on "Open in Desktop" then message Fusion 360 not installed appears in browser. and either nothing happens if F360 already running OR F360 opens but model does not. (And also the F360 takes total control to the point where I could not even continue typing this post without shutting F360 down.)
  • Tried adding a model to "OffLine Cache" which also made no difference.

(This is a personal license but below the 10 editable model limit)

Any help appreciated

Dave

I am having the same issue, and looking through the support board, were not the only ones. Perhaps its a server issue?

I'm having the exact same issue since this morning. Worked fine yesterday. Have tried reinstalling Fusion 360. Made no difference. Just dandy that we cannot contact support directly on a personal account.

I can also not find any of my editable documents in desktop version even though it clearly says I have 6/10. I can find them a bit jumbled under admin projects, and then they open in browser that says I don't have Fusion 360 installed on my system.

I am having the exact same problem. All of my editable items are missing, and all items opened open in browser instead?

Does anyone, who has this error, work on a professional, not personal license and could open a support ticket? Or is it limited to personal license users only?

Same here, personal license. Worked fine yesterday evening. This morning it does open everything in browser, and in general acts weird.

Exact same issue here. I'm on personal license.

Found this workaround: Go to File Menu and use Open from there. That allowed me to open the files in the App.

Hope it's fixed soon.

Open Fusion, click on the triangle next to the "new File" blank paper symbol, then "open" and browse through the project paths until you find what you want to open. Or just press ctrl+o

Hi Roger,
Great fix! Thanks for this it solved a major headache.
I was going down the route of sharing the file to my other Autodesk account and when trying that noticed the file open option and wondered if that may be a solution, but you beat me to it.
Regards
Dave

If I had to guess (and this is only a guess) it's probably only affecting free licenses. Probably a case of rolling updates out to free community first as a testing ground and this one had an obvious glitch. I'm not complaining BTW this is why, IMHO, companies like Autodesk provide free access to hobbyists. We get free use of software and they get a large pool of testers who are don't have the more demanding needs for reliability of commercial users.

Does anyone have another workaround, so that I can get a component from another file in my current file? I prepared a component previously, but drag and drop into a new file doesn't work currently either. Adding a new, external component is not possible under personal license.
