Adding info into Description in the part list?

In my Fusion 360 drawings I have made a Parts list table from the components. I notice that in the Parts list there is a column named Description.

My questions are:

How is info added to this?

How can I get into the table to edit this info if needed?

Hi Christopher,

The information in the drawing Parts List comes directly from the design.  In the model if you right-click a component in the browser and select Properties you'll see the following:

Currently the table in the drawing cannot be edited, but we are aware of the need for this and have this on our roadmap.

I have the problem that updating this information does not update the parts list table in the drawing... It is a Fusion 360 Archive that I have imported in order to modify as a way of copying the 3D model and drawing as Fusion does not yet have this ability. Any idea why the info is not updating or how to push it to update? I have tried a Fusion restart.

Hi infoWM32F,

Once the Fusion 360 Archive is uploaded to your project, it should behave the same way it did before Export.  Are you seeing different behavior in the re-uploaded drawing?  Changing the component properties in the parent design and then saving the design should prompt for a Get Latest in the drawing (and update of the parts list).  Are linked/xref'd components involved or sub-components under the top level component?

I had a need to put in the description comments after I had made a BOM in a Drawing file, and found that this feature does exist in the current version of F360. It's simple and works as expected, but note if you have linked parts in the main design document, you will have to OPEN the part and update the description, THEN SAVE, then UPDATE the design document, then SAVE, then UPDATE the drawing document (and save) for the changes to be reflected int he BOM. You have to do these steps so that the data flows from the source (original .STEP file or original design) to the Assembly diagram etc. Cheers. Thanks Autodesk.
