Add a pdf file as additional sheets to drawings

Hi,

I am trying to optimize my file system.  After 30 years doing the same jobs off and on, we have collected allot of reference documents such as old 2d prints. and more recently Fusion set-up sheets.

I have found it to be a constant struggle to keep track of all this stuff. We have file cabinets packed full of documents.

Recently I have been changing the old paper stuff to .pdf files then converting them to an image file and inserting them in a blank sheet for my part drawing.

This keeps all of my reference material in the same place, with my part drawing in fusion. No searching though file cabinets or trying to keep our 25 year old Bobcad software running.

This is working ok, But is still a pain in the butt, and if your not careful you can select the image and drag it around. Ok for some things but not this.

My question is "Does any one know how to import additional sheets from an external source into a drawing?"

or does anyone have a better way of doing the same thing?

Thanks

Hi @patbATCT2

To answer your question:  “Does anyone know how to import additional sheets from an external source into a drawing?”

Right now, it's not possible to import a sheet from another drawing

This is on our roadmap, have a look here, it's listed as “X-ref an existing sheet into a Drawing package”.

Every customer request that we get, from meetings, emails, forum posts etc. gets collected and categorised in our feature request database. This information is used to prioritise the features that we build next. I've added your request to our database.

Way you explained the problem statement, I can't think of direct or easy way to do it.

But one question do you really need to keep reference document in image format in fusion drawing?

Can't you keep the list of reference used in drawing in table format? which points to location (on cloud or any network location) where anybody can look for required document. any ways those for reference only, Right?

just an example for that -

This only works as long as everyone who opens a file has the same software, for instance, we have 1 old 486 pc that runs a program called BOBCAD ver 17. its a 16 bit program that wont run on modern 64 bit pcs. Its awesome for simple 2d drawings but is severely outdated. but we have 15 years worth of old files in that old .CAD format.

with the Image of the old 2d drawing already in fusion and easily accessible. I dont have to go through and re dimension a new drawing to get the same info I dug out 10 years ago. and its right there for the boss to see.

Ive aslso been doing this with our setup sheets. instead of always changing my directory and saving as a .html. I print it out an insert it right into my drawing pack
