Accessing parametric modeling from solid + why isn't my timeline showing up?

Hi, new Fusion 360 user here...

I'm working on a part that has variable lengths (ex. base part is 95.5mm and has the same features all the way up to 280mm the only thing that changes in the OAL). I'm able to import my solid body into the software, but when in the Design work space I'm unable to turn the solid into a parametric that I can work with and manipulate. What am I missing? Also, i cannot access my timeline. What gives?

Hi,

Imported solids do not have a history.
You can activate the history after the import, but this does not mean that they become parametric through this step.

Just the following actions become parametric.

What happens if you break the link?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Hi,

Browser >Right Click > Capture Design History
> but this only results in a history of future actions being created.

You can modify the geometry without using the timeline.

You really only need the timeline if the modifications need to be parametric.
