hi there please dont all laugh too loud but i am hopeless I'm tryingnto follow fusion 360 tutorial for absolute beginners - part 1

my question is

by the way I'm using a mac book

lars says now we scroll over and the drawing rotates so as to work from the bottom of the drawing i have no idea what this scrolling is or how to do it

I am hoping that I have interpreted your question correctly.  When you post again, it is very helpful to take a screen capture, your model and the link to the lesson you are working on.  I believe you are asking about panning, zooming and orbiting a model.  I am using Windows with a wheel mouse.  Mac Book may have different keys especially if you do not have a wheel mouse.  In my screencast I first of all try and define what a model is and what a 2D drawing is.  You mention drawing in your question but I assume you are talking about a model since you are just beginning.
