Hi, I'm using the bolts option in simulation especially because it can be preloaded with tension, unlike a regular modeled cylinder, but unfortunately I can't find a way to view the resultant tension force on the bolts from other forces acting on the model.  Does Autodesk plan to have this option available in simulation at some point?

Thanks.

Hi @cinchmix,

Fusion 360 uses Autodesk Nastran solver to solve simulation results and Nastran has the capability to determine the forces in a bolt connector.

Today Fusion 360 had not implemented the feature to know how much force (and moment) is in a bolt connector

We have this is in our list. I cannot say for certain when it will be implemented.

Hi Sujay,

Nearly two years on from this date, has Fusion 360 now incorporated the ability to factor in the resultant forces in the bolt connectors? I am producing a model currently and it seems to ignore the preload force value, however I do want to experiment with different fixings on a job, which in turn would affect the differing preloads I want the simulation to use. As it stands I can go as high as 2000N or as low as 2N and the results for my model are the same...

Anything you could suggest?

Many thanks,

David

I'd settle for being able to access the raw nastran output text file.  Could I just look at the .f06 file?

Hi @cooper_david_a,

As far as I know, there isn't a way to access the Nastran result file you mention. The Nastran output file we provide can be found in Results > Inspect > Solver Data > Solver Output.

We have a ticket to enhance the Bolt Connector results as FUS-119486.

  • To obtain the strength (Forces, Stress, Factor of Safety, etc) of the Bolt Connector

I've bumped up the priority since this isn't a unique request.

Best regards,

Hello Hugh,

I support this feature by all means. I have been using Fusion simulation for years and implemented it in my company, but unability to access f06 result files and point/bolt forces in static analysis has always forced us to other software. This would be a game changer! Please implement.

Best regards,

Richard
