Why does export of OBJ take forever?

Quite often when I try to export a very simple model to OBJ, it take FOREVER! Right now I've waited more than 10 minutes for an export that 3D prints in less than 5 minutes.

Get more squirrels in those cages!

Thanks,

Steve

@steveKLAWS

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file that exhibits this slow behavior to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

How are you doing the export (from cloud or locally)?

Hi CADWhisperer,

Attached is the design file.

I want to amend my comment. It's not that the export is always slow, it's that it is often slow. The export sometimes takes 15 minutes.  Sometimes the export goes 15 minutes and then times out.  And sometimes it takes just a minute.  This has happened to me repeatedly over the past year.  (My internet is gigabit and reliable.)

My guess would be that the issue is that there's a pipeline for export jobs, and it sometimes is swamped. And a typical user behavior might be to export, have it take extraordinarily long, then start up another, thus worsening the problem. (I've done it.)

Thanks for those screenshots.  What you've pointed out here is that export can be done locally.  It's not "File > Export", but a separate mesh operation.  You've helped me out when I find that cloud export is misbehaving.  Suggestion:  Make local export part of File > Export.

Thanks,

Steve
