Why can't I save a project or drawing to my local drive?

You can save a model to your local hard drive, by exporting the design as a .f3d.

However, Fusion 360 stores its data predominantly on the cloud, Amazon AWS servers to be precise.

I feel the need to register a note of disappointment with the cloud-only decision. There are many of us who are *not legally permitted* by US export law to use a cloud storage solution for their design work. Is Autodesk aware of this?

Exporting may be enough for most, but in my opinion it is an unnecessary and time-wasting extra effort.

I always need to have access to my files, even if there is a network problem or if there are internet problems.

Only a few days ago we had no internet for 24 hours and therefore no access to projects that were stored in the cloud.
In addition, our company has its own rules on how and where CAD CAM files should be saved.

Even more important, we have companies where there is a confidentiality clause and only people with this signed confidentiality clause have the right to access this data. This also includes Claud memory is not allowed in these cases, especially if you cannot prove or narrow down who has access to this data.

So why not just build in an option where it is up to me where and how I want my data to be saved.

Fusion is cloud-based storage.
Autodesk has other apps that perform the same functions as Fusion that are legacy based.
