Why are projection/intersection points deleted when an associated ellipse object is deleted?

The following picture shows four lines and four intersection points.

Next, an ellipse is drawn and connected to three of the intersection points.

If the ellipse is deleted, the three points associated with it are also deleted. There is no warning. The same behavior also occurs when the upper half of the ellipse is erased using trim.

I find the behavior very impractical, especially when I work with trim. If I use a spline instead of an ellipse, I can delete the spline and the points are preserved.

I don't really have an answer for your question. I'm assuming this is unintended behavior and needs to be addressed in a future development cycle. Logged as FUS-123189 for tracking.
