When dimensioning a sketch the number gets highlighted and overwrites itself

I am trying to type a dimension in a sketch, and the numbers automatically highlight themselves, causing anything that is typed afterwards to overwrite the initial number.  This has only been a problem recently, within a week or so.

Below is a link to a dropbox video: I am trying to type 3.6" as the dimension, and as you see, the number gets highlighted in the tiny pause that it takes to move my fingers from the "." to the "6", and then deletes itself, making it almost impossible to type the correct number.

Afterwards, I can go back to the sketch and edit the number to make it correct, and the highlighting/overwriting isn't an issue.  It only seems to be a problem in the original making of the sketch.

Any insight on how to fix this?

Another issue that is related :  When I am able to type a full number, then I press enter and expect the shape to go to that size, but instead the shape will just stay the size it was drawn, and I have to manually change the dimension afterwards.

So say I drag out a rectangle to be about 5" by 10", but then I type 5 and 10 into the dimension boxes to make the dimensions exact.  Instead of saving the exact dimensions and resizing the rectangle, the rectangle gets drawn exactly how I dragged it out, disregarding the dimensions that were typed in.  I can then manually change the dimensions for each side afterwards.

Which version of windows. There's another thread here with similar problems. I see the problem intermittently after the March update a couple of weeks ago.

@HughesTooling

Version : 2004

Installed on : 9/30/2020

OS Build: 19041.867

And thanks, just read through that thread.  Someone said there was an update fixing the issue last week, but my Fusion is updated and still having the problems today.

I am also experiencing the highlighted number issue, intermittently, for several months now. Not design-related, can happen after opening Fusion on a freshly booted machine (Windows 7 SP1), or any time after.

Hi,

Right click on the Fusion icon and try compatibility modes.

Thanks, but this is a work-around, not a proper fix. Seems like Fusion 360
is getting a bit ragged around the edges, I sincerely hope all these
annoying bugs get fixed soon.

@g-andresen for what it's worth, I'm seeing this sporadically in Windows 10. Sometimes it accepts the keyed in dimension just fine, other times it says "no, I don't think I'll do that" and I have to then edit after creation

For Win 7 the problems been around for about a year or more and is a know bug that support have said isn't going to get fixed. The compatibility workaround, for me hit performance badly so I just work around the problem by editing the dimension after its created at the wrong size.

Luckily for me I only use my Win 7 PC occasionally but the problem is now present in Win 8.1 and Win 10. @Phil.E has replied in this thread that the new problem in Win8/10 is known.

Yes, I reported the dimension problem back in June 2020. I prefer to create
the object without dimensions and add them later, cannot risk an error at
sketch level that would affect the final design, wasting time and material.

1. This has long been my preferred way of working even if it does not change the core of the problem.
2. @seth.madore  This advice has been given several times here in the forum. I have only passed it on, so to speak.
