If you have your Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts, in your Preferences, set to Fusion, which most users do, all you have to do to Zoom Extents is double click your mouse middle button.  This is a lot faster then using the icon or F6 key.

Thank you for replying. However, I’m still having trouble. In Preferences, I can see settings for Pan, Zoom, and Orbit shortcuts. In this section, I can choose from options like Fusion, Alias, or Inventor, which changes the Pan, Zoom, and Orbit controls accordingly (I guess). But what I would like to do is alter the specific Zoom shortcut key. Is that possible?

It is not currently possible, but we are aware that this functionality is desired.

This add in might allow you to setup a custom shortcut for what you want, AnyShortcut.
