What's with the new sketch plane that no longer snaps to front view?

What happened to the regular old sketch plane (where you start sketching, and then the view snaps to a front view)?

Anyone else run into this, and what is the cure?

Uncheck 3D Sketch at the bottom of the sketch palette. After you'll need to select a sketch tool for it to  take effect.
