What is the difference between Drive Joint and Edit Joint Limits?

From manual: Drive joint: Specify the rotation angle or distance value for joint degrees of freedom.

But then, the same thing can be achieved by editing a joint and apply Joint Limits (Max/Min and optional Resting)...

So, is it any difference between those two, or is just another duplicate command with the sole purpose to confuse users even more?

Many thanks.

Drive Joint is a "one time" command to tell a joint to go to a particular position allowed by the joint and the joint limits.  Joint limits on the other hand are a constant set value to limit an allowed joint motion within a min and max value.  Take a look at the Screencast, I try to explain it with a Slot and Pin Joint.

As stated before, you cannot use the Drive Joint command to drive the value of the joint motion "past" the assigned joint limit.
