View locks up?

Assuming it is not me (Apple MacBook Pro, new OS-Mojav);

Fusion 360 locked up when I rotated the view: Not at first, as the simple body was moveable to various positions, but then locked up completely. I had a small black box following the track-pad arrow that I could not remove. Saved the model, reopened it, and the black box was gone, but views still locked up.

The other new thing I did (while view was working) was to move to a side that I wanted to use as the "Top" then double click the view icon and set that side as "Top". Maybe that was associated with a lock up???

Hi @2herds

I have a few questions to start- is this lock up happening to you on only one particular file? Or does it happen anytime you're rotating a design in Fusion? If it is just the particular file, can you post the file here so that I could try it on my computer? Can you also take a screenshot of your Graphics Diagnostics? You can locate the graphics diagnostics by going to the help menu> support and diagnostics> graphics diagnostics.

Thanks,

Julia Paganucci,

I started Fusion 360 to try to answer you questions. It has been off for a few hours. The file that was locking up now allowed me to change view angles, via the view icon (don’t know it’s proper name?).

Also; Macbook Pro late 2013, OS-Mojave Version 10.14.1, Nvidia GeForce GT 750m 2048 mb, Intel Iris Pro 1536 mb

I can answer a few of your questions;
1) The lock up has happened on different files.
2) Seems to happen only when object is rotated. It will rotate to the position I wanted, then locks and will not allow any more rotations.
3) Graphics pictures;

Julia Paganucci,

After I sent off the earlier email to you a few minutes ago rotating views worked just fine.

Then (using Lars tip) I moved the object to the “bottom view”, went to the view icon, right clicked it, and selected “TOP” and it locked up.

I opened an old file, nothing to do with this one, and it was locked right when it opened.

I should also mention I don’t know how to “post a file”.

Hi @2herds

Sorry about that- here is an article on how to share a design in Fusion 360!

I was also seeing this behavior when using the view cube to rotate the view. Pressing escape a few times and also minimizing and maximizing the Fusion 360 window to the dock helped me to get out of the lock up. I also noticed this behavior stopped if I clicked in the model space a few times. This is not intended behavior. Do you mind posting a link to the Lars tip video you are watching? I want to recreate the exact steps you were doing.

Thanks,

Julia Paganucci

I started Fusion and got it to lock up again. Then trying your suggestions I still could not get it unlocked.

I went back to the view icon, right clicked on it and selected "reset font" and it unlocked. I think possibly selecting "view" instead would also have worked, I was just trying different things. The fact I restarted (?) the view cube may have been the trick.

Hi @2herds

Thanks for your input. We've logged it with the development team. Let me know if you run into anymore trouble with this, but it sounds like you've found a way around it.

Thanks!

I have spent the last 15 minutes trying to get it to lock up via. the view cube setting sides to top, etc. and it seems to be working fine. I have to assume the "problem" has been fixed.

Thanks, Tom
