Using the Bolt Connector in simulation throws a solver error

Since the recent updates, whenever I try to use the "Bolt Connector" function in the linear stress simulation environment, the solver complains that my components are over-contrained, even if I just have two flat plates bolted in two or three corners.

I tried setting the contact between the two bolted plates as "Separation","Sliding" and "Bonded", but the result is the same in all cases. I even suppressed the contact altogether and it doesn't work either. The only way to make the simulation work is to remove the bolts and set the contact as "Bonded".

Switching to DOF view shows everything green (fully fixed) in all my attempts.

I attached the simulation log.

I remember being able to do similar simulations in the past, why doesn't it work now?

Hi @marcocipriani01,

Could you attach the design to take a closer look?

  • File > Export.. > f3d (or f3z) file type

I'm not able to reproduce the solve failure in a simple setup using two bolt connectors:

@henderh I apologize for the delay, how can I share the project confidentially?

Hi @marcocipriani01,

I've replied to the private message with details of how to share the design with Autodesk.

Thank you,

Thank you Marco for providing the setup.

To benefit future searches, there's a workaround when encountering a solve failure of the type:

DEPENDENT MPC AT GRID xxxxxx COMPONENT x IS OVER CONSTRAINED

It is likely that Bolt Connectors (or Rigid Body Connectors) are applied to the same face / edge selected for a Constraint. The workaround is to go to the Simplify workspace, and split the face around the bolt holes:

Issue FUS-88397 is logged to handle this situation automatically. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
