Unsresolved component issue

Hello,

It seems that 1 of my design files has become corrupt. This file was linked in 2 other files, but it is now shown as 'UnresolvedComponent'. It was also not possible to drag a previous version of the corrupt design into another design.

According to the support page, one of the possible solutions was to clear your cache. I have done this, but unfortunately to no avail.

I have now made a copy of the corrupt file and saved it. I can drag this file into other designs without a problem. Unfortunately, wherever that first corrupt file was linked, it now says 'UnresolvedComponent', with only the following context menu items:

- Create drawing
- Physical material
- Show / hide
- Selectable / unselectable
- Find in timelime

Is there any way I can remove this? It gets in the way and it is misleading.

I am using version 2.0.10148 with the Fusion 360 Personal plan on Windows 10 (19042)

Can you please provide diagnostic logs?

  1. Open Fusion on the machine where the design was made, go to Help
  2. Support and Diagnostics
  3. Diagnostic log files

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply.

This is what I did to collect the log files:

- Launch Fusion 360

- Open a design where the corrupt file was referenced

- Clicked Help > Support and Diagnostics > Diagnostic Log files

The file is attached.

Do you recall anything about how it may have become corrupt? That step is what we need to track down. Any description of the design and how it was made, saved, were multiple computers involved, etc. would be helpful.

Thanks,

Hello,

Every file I modified, I did with Ctrl + S and I never modified the message that you can enter when you save it.
The only PC used is my own. I am doing this project alone.

I saw a couple of days before the design went corrupt that there was a warning triangle as thumbnail instead of the actual object in the project browser, but I never opened it as the other designs loaded as they should.

Monday I opened a file that I use quite often. It always loaded fine, but since Monday it gave an error stating that there were unresolved components.

Below is what I did to use the corrupt file anyway:

1. I had loaded and saved an older version of the corrupt file so that I might be able to use it again. The file was still not recognized in the projects that linked this file.
2. I tried to drag this 'fixed' file into other projects, but got an error saying 'this is not a valid zip file' or something similar.
3. I cloned the file (which was corrupt before, but now an older one working) to a new file.
4. I can use the new file everywhere as before.
5. I eventually moved the corrupt file to the '_' folder in my project (I use this as a recycle bin)

I have not modified any other files since this issue as I am scared to destroy 1 year of work..

Thanks for the details. This helps.

To be clear, the part that suddenly showed a warning icon in the data panel rather than a thumbnail is the part that is now "unresolved"?

Do you ever work offline, by switching Fusion to offline mode?

Thank you for your response!

The file that was showing a warning icon instead of the design as thumbnail is indeed the file that is now corrupt (which is now located in a folder called _ if that helps).

I only work online. I never used the offline mode.
