I'm a first time CAD learner and am going through some tutorials.
I've successfully created a 3D rectangle and have used parameters for dimensions.
I am now trying to create a rectangular cut-out on that rectangular extruded shape.
On the sketch tab, I select 'rectangle' and then go to draw on the face of the extruded shape i'd like to make a cut-out. no matter where I click on the edge of the face i've selected, the 'x' for selection doesn't appear ... except on the 'bottom' edge of the face i've selected. After clicking the first corner, I also can't set dimensions/ 'Specify size of rectangle' ... the 'x' doesn't appear again and dragging the mouse around on the face of the extruded rectangle doesn't "do" anything.
If I instead try to create a 'line' ... I can only do so along the same axis as the 'bottom' edge of the face i've selected. I can't create that line "on" the face i've selected or along an edge higher up than that ...
What am I doing wrong? Clearly I'm missing something fundamental here.
I'm on a Mac if that matters, using
2.0.8816
Active Plan: Fusion 360, Personal
macOS 10.15.6
