Trying to extrude edge of flange creates a new body even when I select "Join"

I am working on a part where I start with the primary flange, create a flange off that, and then try to extrude one of that flange's edges.  It's always creating a new body!  I don't want to create a new body, I want the extrusion to be a part of the original part.   This worked in the last version of Fusion360.

Sorry if this issue is a duplicate of what somebody else posted.

it works for me in a simple test.  Could be model specific - can you share your model?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Do you have the correct Component active?

Can you use the Flange tool rather than Extrude?

Hm.   Seems as if my Fusion 360 was somehow between updates or something, because I restarted it (to install update) and then everything worked.   Odd.
