Trim a line at points

On another software I have used a long time a have a practice of drawing a single line and putting points at various places in the line.  It could be points at midway or specific distances from the ends etc.  once there are points on the line I can click trim at any point on the line and delete the line between the nearest points.   I can’t get this to work on fusion. It deletes the whole line.  It is too much work to have to draw a line intersecting the point to use the line as a dividing point.  Surely there must be a way to trim between points ?

It sounds like you will have to develop parametric history specific techniques.

I use Dimensions .

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file of a typical design to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply? Complete it the hard way if necessary.

One of the experts here will demonstrate an efficient technique.

I will try this today. What if I can find a message to create a circle between the two points then once there is a circle there I should be able to trim the line inside the circle.

Udpate. I have a fast work around.  Create a line then place your points on the line.  Create a 2 point circle between the points where you want to trim the line.  Click trim on the line you want to remove between 2 points.  Then trim the circle and you are left with the line cut at 2 points.

On other software it is normal to place points on a line and trim between points.  This should be normal behavior on Fusion.  Also another feature that I can't find is the ability to place a point on a line at some specific position ie "Place point on entity:

A.  At a distance from the end the mouse is nearest by typing the distance

B.  some % of distance ie 1/3 distance

C.  Place point on a line intersecting two other lines ( maybe there is some variant of this).

IF you are on a 0 or 90 degree line it is easy to MoveCopy a point a specific distance.  But on a line at an angle or on a circle it would be best to be able to add points along a line at some interval (distance/percent).

Every scenario you describe indicates to me that you have not yet discovered the most efficient Fusion techniques (identical to SolidWorks, Creo and Inventor).

I don’t know what prior CADs you have used, but I strongly suggest that you Attach one of your *.f3d files here.

You marked this thread as Solved, but my 30+ years experience is telling me your issues aren’t solved.
