Tool path isse for lathing an axial pocket

Hi everyone,

I am trying to create a lathing tool path in fusion for a part which involves an axial pocket. Creating clearance using axial grooving works. But when I proceed to rough the inner outline, the tool path does not extend much inside of the pocket. The clearence of the tool appears to be fine, the target volume boundaries are poperly set and axial grooving is activated.

To illustrate the issue, I attached a snapshot showing the part, the tool and the tool path. In red, I marked the cross-section area which I would expect to remove in this step. I further attached a simplified (not) working example of the situation.

I would be glad for any input, because I already tried everything I can imagine.

The solution is to provide a geometry specification for the roughing using a sketched path. Why the automatic detection fails remains a mystery.

I believe this is a known limitation of the turning toolpaths, we don't have a good way of handling model detection where there is a post/boss that needs to be navigated around. A Sketch is the best solution in this case
