Tool Library for Our Customers Using Fusion 360

We have customers requesting a downloadble tool library for our Kodiak Cutting Tools® products. We do not have the Fusion 360 program ourselves. Is it possible to create a tool library for our cutting tools without having the software installed. We were hoping to get a sample library that we could populate with our own items an to supply to our customers. Is that possible?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! While it is technically possible to create a .JSON or .TSV format tool library file without having access to Fusion 360, it can be quite difficult, as the .JSON format is very particular and this would require you to understand all of the tool variables available when creating tools in Fusion 360 by shorthand code. In short, I would not recommend using this technique to create tool libraries.

It may be slightly easier to edit a .TSV file to create the tools, but this will still require quite a bit of work. To get an idea of the format required for .TSV libraries, please export an existing tool library in that format and open it in a text editor or spreadsheet program.

An easier workaround may be to download a free trial of Fusion 360, create the tool libraries you need within Fusion, and export either a .TOOLS, .JSON, or .TSV file that you can share with the customer - this will allow you to ensure all the tools are set up correctly and working properly with Fusion 360.

Please let me know if you have any questions - I'm happy to help!

Hi,

Still can't bulk edit my tools. I can export and import a tsv file, but if I edit the tsv file and even change one value when I reimport it the file is blank.

Any help would be apprecited.

Regards

Steven
