Title Block Initials Attribute

Is there a way to have user initials as a title block attribute? I know about the DrawnBy attribute, but full names take up too much space on our block and we don't want to share draftsman's names externally - initials are widely accepted as the industry standard for drawings.

Right now we have a custom attribute set, but I am tired of coworkers updating my drawings without changing to their initials, and then production coming to me with issues on a drawing I didn't make.

Hello @jlalevee ,

Just wanted to check how you want the initials attribute to get set? I will check with the team on this.

Few questions

  • Initially if you have created drawings, it will under your initials?
  • Now when any of your coworkers updates it, you want it to get it assigned in their name?

Hi Mohammed,

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

  • Initially if you have created drawings, it will under your initials? Yes - creating a drawing would populate with the initials of the person making the drawing. (right now we do this with our own copies of our drawing template saved out with our initials - kinda a pain to update all of them whenever we change our title blocks).

  • Now when any of your coworkers updates it, you want it to get it assigned in their name? - Yes - similar behavior to how in the file manager you can see who saved each version of a document:

I would imagine if this feature were to work the way I think it would the data would be pulled from here - populate the initials of the user saving the document. We do this in our title block now. Be neat if user initials could be set like a system preference, like units, per user's machine.

We currently use the "%<\AcVar SaveDate \f "M/d/yy">%" trick to get the date to update on save - I think the default date attribute is the creation date. Having this functionality with initials would be nice too - I could see where you would want the original draftsman's initials in a block somewhere, but also have the last saved draftsman's initials somewhere else.

Thanks for listening, seeing this feature implemented would be a nice QOL update.

Hello @jlalevee ,

I have added an improvement request(FUS-228101). Team mentioned with custom attrinutes tis can be achieved manually as you are already trying, Thanks for reproting this improvement. I cannot assure you if this will be added in Fusion but this has reached the team.

Thanks!
