Title block font error

Anonymous
Not applicable

Right, so I've just got a new workstation and suddenly the font I previously had in my title blocks is replaced with another font. This new font won't scale properly and as such one field goes over into the next, making the title block unreadable. See attached picture.

In the template, which I created on my previous computer, this text was in Arial. I have Arial installed as a system font on my new computer as well, but I'm guessing that Fusion doesn't recognize it or something.

Parts are to be sent to manufacturing early next week and I need drawings that can be read by the metalworking shop...

Reducing the lenght of the text in the fields may be a temporary workaround, but I would like to get to the bottom of this so that I can use the templates.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion community!

I'm sorry to hear about this issue! I know that I have seen some similar issues where if the justification for the template fields were set to "Middle Justified", but in those cases, the text ended up "squishing" up, becoming unreadable.

Regardless, could you send me the DWG file for the template that you are using? I would just like to test out the behavior on my machine to see if it is machine specific or if it is a more widespread issue. The article linked here describes the many ways that you can share your designs to collaborate with others. For the purposes of troubleshooting this issue, I would recommend exporting the DWG file straight from your hub at myhub.autodesk360.com. This will allow me to download the template here on my machine and make modifications to it during my troubleshooting while leaving it intact within your project.

Thanks in advance for the information! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!

Cheers,

Mike Tessier

Hi,

Our built-in title blocks don't use Arial, they use Arial Unicode MS, which should come on Windows systems and/or with an installation of Microsoft Office. It looks identical---you can't tell the difference by looking at the characters---but it has an expanded character set to support other languages. That is the first thing I would check.

If you are sure your title block uses Arial, then make sure Fusion can "find" the font. Go to the Annotation Settings in the toolbar at the bottom of your drawing, go to Annotation Font, and see if Arial is in the list.

Hope those tips help.

Ok, found the font downloaded it and tried again. It still looks bad through the web browser interface on some drawings and good on others. I was hoping the solution was that easy (maybe it still will be) but not there yet.

Right; Arial Unicode MS is not installed on the servers used for viewing drawings on Autodesk 360 (web interface). That is something we have on our list to fix. If your drawing uses Arial, it should appear correctly on Autodesk 360.
