Thread tool changes outside diameter of round stock

I just noticed that when I put a partial thread on a piece of round stock, it changes the diameter of the whole length of round stock; stock diameter was 10mm and after applying a partial thread, 9,85mm. See attached file.

Hi,

I think this has something to do with real screws. If you measure an M10 screw, you will find that both the thread-free and threaded areas are smaller than 10 mm (approx. 9.85 mm).
