This might be a cascading set of problems.  Here's a link to the design:  https://a360.co/2L0GV0s

I'm designing a frame with some cross rods that should be threaded on the ends.  It's real simple and looks like this:

0.5" Rod needing threads0.5" Rod needing threads

This rod is a 0.5" pipe created from a path from a sketch (more on that in a minute).   Then I try to use the thread tool to give it threads.  I don't really want a fully threaded rod, but for this report I just took the defaults.  Note that I selected the rod, and the body of the rod almost disappears during the operation (note the end face only is visible).Thread dialog with defaultsThread dialog with defaults

When I hit ok, I get this error.Thread errorThread error

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  This worked easy peasy in the past.

Another thing that is really odd is that the sketch I used to create the rod has a couple mystery projections I can't delete.  Well, I did delete them, but Fusion 360 still thinks they are there.  The "manage lost projections" dialog can show them to me, but try as I might, I can't seem to use that dialog to get rid of that.  Anyway, that's why there is a warning on that sketch.   Would be nice to figure that one out too as I keep thinking I have a problem there :(.

Let's put down the mouse and take a walk out to the shop floor.

Pick up the rod.

In the real world - how would you put a bend in the rod without, well, bending the rod?

I think if you edit the Cross Rod Path to add a bend (Fillet) you will find that the thread features work (on both ends), be sure to uncheck Full Length so that you can specify the desired thread length.

Well dang, go figure.   The funny thing was that I was getting this error even though I was trying to specify only 0.75 length of threads, but even more funny (if that's the right word) was that I was just thinking I needed to add that fillet on the rod as it is indeed supposed to be bent rather than welded!

It's been a day.  Thanks for the quick response!

I think I'll "fix" the sketch by deleting it and recreating.  That'll be quicker than trying to delete non-existing projections.
