With the current version of Fusion 360 (2.0.8950)

and Cura 4.7 I  was able to select 'Cura' from the dropdown list for 'print utility' and Cura would launch and run. However, I recently upgraded to Cura 4.7.1, which uninstall the previous version and installed the new version in the same location. Now Cura will not launch.

There does not appear to be a problem with Fusion accessing the new version via the custom menu, but the old 'Cura' link is broken.

A side note: once I used the 'custom' link in 'print utility' the Cura option disappeared.

1. how do I restore the 'Cura' link?

2. How do I get the 'Cura' link to work with the current version of Cura?

Hello,

You have to select the path to the Cura executable by clicking on the icon below the "Print Utility" entry.

You can also try the free add-in 3D Print Plus. It supports the latests version of Cura.

Sorry, I must not have been clear.

1. Cura used to be an option in the print utilities.

2. I updated Cura to the latest version

3. Cura no longer appears as an option in the print utilities.

4. I am well aware of how to access print utilities that are not listed in the available utilities

So:

Why did installing the update to Cura cause Fusion 360 to forget how to find it?

Why did this not happen when I installed the Cura update on my Mac?

Is it possible that there is a step in updating the executable for a print utility that is only required when executing on Windows machines?

Or did I simply forget what I had done when in updated the Mac? (by the way, I am a new Mac user since Sep of this year)

Hello,

The path to the Cura executable doesn't change on Mac after an update. It's always /Applications/Ultimaker Cura.app/Contents/MacOS/

The same path changes on Windows because the version of Cura is in the path : C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 4.7

I'm not sure that I made myself clear, or I may be misreading the answer.

Let's try again from the beginning.

The shortlist:

  • After updating Cura, the link in the print utilities drop-down list element "Cura" no longer works. In fact, selecting the "Cura" element removes it from the list.
  • I want the "Cura" element in the drop-down list to work, how do I fix this?

Details:

  1. Originally, in Fusion 360 when you select "Save to STL", the Print utility drop-down contains "Cura" in the drop-down list and if selected, Cura launched.
    Fusion 360 - Save to STL.PNG
  2. After installing the Cura update, Cura still appears but selecting Cura flashes a mesh image of the solid and then returns to Fusion 360.
  3. If I select any other option, Cura is removed from the list.
  4. I understand that the new version of Cura is under .../Ultimaker Cura 4.7.
  5. I want to know, How do I fix the drop-down element Cura so that it points to the correct version?

I already know how to set up a custom utility, as I have been doing that for quite a while since I used to used simplify3D as well.

I hope I have made my problem clear this time.

You can't fix this by yourself.

I managed to solve the issue. It seems that when you select the cura option on the drop-menu, Fusion tries to execute the first folder of cura found on the program files. If you happen to upgrade Cura, the installer will create a new folder.

Solution? Delete old versions. Just be careful of not deleting old configs you want to save.  As analternative, next time you update, create a new folder with no versions on it and update on the same folder averytime.
