The CopyPaste feature cannot be edited

Hello everyone

If I create a new component with boundary fill, I can edit this feature in the timeline at any time.

If I create a new component with CopyPaste, I can't edit this feature in the timeline and thus all subsequent features are lost.

This is a known limitation and doesn't look like it'll ever get fixed! The workaround using boundary fill is what I've used and recommended on the forum for years.

Thank you very much for your reply, but it is an astonishing realization that this known limitation is not resolved.

Yes, it's a shame AutoDesk don't think this is worth fixing. As well as the problem of fixing a lost reference it also gives you the option to change the reference to a different body if you need to.

One excuse is that there is no UI for this, you don't get a dialog when creating a copy. But you don't get a dialog when you use Create Components from bodies either but you can edit a create components.

This is a create components feature and you can edit! The help text looks totally wrong though!

Not fair.  Never say "never".  This is another in the category of "yes, it would be better if this worked as you expected to, but, frankly, is not enough of a problem for enough people to rise in the priority list to the point where this is implemented".  So, yes, someday, this might be implemented, but it will take a larger number of people complaining about it for that to happen.

Add me to a list of users impacted, please, I am in too deep to fix it now.

Jeff, I hope some extra weight would be added taking into account how painful the problem is when you run into it! It can mean you have to pretty much delete everything past the error in the timeline because it just snowballs down the timeline. As well as fixing the error of losing a reference it also adds functionality where you can change what's selected to a new\different body.

Thanks Mark

Since very few CAM experts are CAD experts like @HughesTooling it might make sense to rate his concerns higher in CAD, since he probably speaks on behalf of many CAM experts, and the few concerns of CAM experts about CAD functionality are about elementary basic functions for the CAM area.

In the Fusion 360 roadmap you can see that many great innovations are coming, such as "Design Configurations", which is described in great detail.

It would be helpful if other positions in the roadmap were described in more detail, then many questions would be superfluous.

PS: I am very grateful for Fusion 360 with its outstanding price/performance ratio and this great forum.
