Sweep issue when no sweep is used.

Right now, I am trying to split two objects as you can see below:

Screenshot 2026-07-17 at 10.20.28 PM.png

However, when I try to split these objects, this error comes up:

Screenshot 2026-07-17 at 10.32.06 PM.png

I have not used the sweep feature a single time yet this keeps coming up. In the first image, if you zoom in closely, you will notice that there are two objects on the left and right that I am trying to split from the background. If I split one of them, it is fine however the other one disappears but when I split both at the same time, it returns the error in the second photo.

any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

can you share your model?  It could be that the error message is misleading.  At a low level, Extrude is implemented using Sweep (along an implied straight path), so the error may be coming from an Extrude

Hi Jeff,

Please find my model attached below. How do I check if the error message is misleading?

Thanks

Need to know which bodies to Modify > Split,

with which? object being the cutter.

Your file has default component / body / sketch names, the file has 2 body1 objects.

Please be specific.  I can reproduce the top pic, with visibility controls.

It appears that you may be trying to cut body 1 (green base feature) and the brown plate, with a body face in Component 1.  I can cut both here, the 2 bodies overhanging are hidden.

Might help...

Oh thats my bad sorry. I am trying to split the two things in Sketch 38 from body 1 under Component 1:1. I am new to Fusion as well so I don't really know the best practice for naming stuff.

Ok, disregard my guessing.

Needs to be one at a time, and I found selecting the sketch first, and then the body to cut, was easier to do.

When you find yourself using Move and or Align tools, come back and ask questions.  The green body animation is quite novel, but not necessary.

Body1 got renamed body3 by fusion (hidden) in this case.
