SVG Line extension and resize issues

I am creating a CNC inlay of the attached file.  Started as an SVG and used line extension to extend all lines. In the beginning worked efficiently.  The longer I worked the longer the software took to respond to a selection.  As much as 10 seconds repeatedly.  Some of the lines I extended were fixed in place others were not so I fixed some of them manually.  Why wasn't every line fixed.  If I had a double line a white dot showed.  Most I could zoom in on and repair.  Others were just out in space and could not be resolved. 

Then I tried to resize the file.  Result attached.  What is wrong???

I created a new sketch from you SVG, it stills has a lot of open profiles but at least you can now scale it, take a little tieme, but it will not fly apart.  Sorry I could not do more but I ran out of time.  I hope it helps you some.  Do not worry about Sketch 1 as it still shows in the background even when visibility is turned off.
