Hello,

I do custom engravings for my customers on metal parts. I use 2d tracing in fusion 360. The problem I am having is that once I get to the geometry portion to trace the SVG file (logo) I find I have to spend a lot of time picking up each individual line and arc. Is there a way I can select the entire logo all at once and save myself time in the geometry portion of my work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

Thank you for the reply.

The video is not loading for some reason, keeps telling to try back in a few mins.

could you please explain step by step what you are showing in the screen you shared?

I did not upload a video, I uploaded an Animated GIF file.  All uploaded videos take a few minutes to be compiled so just be patient.  The Animated GIF runs automatically and shows the steps.

1. select trace tool

2. select V-Bit tool

3. Select sketch 3 from browser   0:18

4. Edit depth (Z-offset) to - 1,0.    0:39

5. Simulate

The video shows the person moving the curser from geometry to "sketch" in the feature tree.

Why do I not have a "sketch" option in my feature tree? The video shows it directly under "origin" but I do not have that. Nowhere in my feature tree does it show "sketch" when I am in manufacture mode.

Hey @maxsap2016 - since this is dated last Tuesday, have you tried since they pushed out the new version with a patch for SVG files?

Our uses are different but we had the same symptom of not being able to select a region. After the update all was fine though the behavior is slightly different which may or may not impact what you are trying to do. I found if I applied an SVG to a surface, the area around the SVG is only selectable in entirety and ignores the SVG. To select the area surrounding the SVG itself, I found I now have to add a border of some kind to the SVG and then I can select the area between the SVG and the new border. For whatever reason I can't add features in that area unless it has an outer boundary.

As an example I'm working on a clock face with an SVG in the center. I found I couldn't radial pattern in the minutes and hours markers and select them to extrude unless I did it before applying the SVG, or after I applied the SVG if I had added a border to the SVG that included the area of the tick marks. Then I could select and extrude and they would be cut out from the other design bits.

Anyway, hopefully the update fixed you up. Also, there seem to be a number of users here with the full packages. When they show techniques to fix problems, sometimes those of us with home user licenses won't have the same options. One previous workaround to the SVG issue was like that and you needed the professional version to duplicate their steps. I learned that when reporting bugs it's best to include the version of software.

Hi,

I would like to point out that this is about the selection of sketch elements or entire sketches in the manufacture module and not about the current problem with inserting SVG and subsequent editing in the Design module.
