Subassembly joints not working

this problem started to show up a couple od weeks ago. 

 

For example. In the pictures i changed the stepper motors with a different one. The parts in subassembly are join together fine, end everything is held together with rigid group at the end. But when i update the master assembly with this subassemblies the parts of this subassemblies are all over the place. Note the steppers are not the first (pinned-grounded parts)

Happened again. i changed the subassembly added a part remove a joint the created a new one. no errors everything is fine. But then i update the master assembly parts are all over the place.

only solution right now is to delete subassembly from main assembly an import it again, which is not a real solution but more work around and annoying.

Please attach your model.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

 

NOTE: If you file is a F3Z file, you may have to ZIP it before it will attach.

I don't see things out of place or all over the place in the model I downloaded.
I did notice that in many cases, you have grounded components to their parents and also pinned the same components. That makes no sense! 

I would use GTP (ground-to-parent) and forget that the pin feature exists. GTP is indeed powerful. Well, it's not a feature but an attribute. That is part of why it is much better than pinning.

In this assembly, you have basically triple-constrained components.

1. You first GTP the 1st component

2. then you pinned the 1st component 

3. Then you joined other components to the 1st component

4. Then you rigid group joint all components.

 

If you delete the pin from the timeline (don't use unpin) and delete the rigid group, your assembly is fully constrained.

Thank you for looking in to it. It is an old habit from old days when GTP was not there yet. Do you think that was the reason for the issues?

I fixed the model because i worked on it. i will try to recrate the issue.

Over constraining components can result in "flaky" behavior. Whether or not that was the reason for what you experienced is hard to say.
