With my limited skills I haven't found a good way of achieving the geometry that I have lofted here any other way than to have the loft go through an existing body and then trim it away where I don't want it. The part looks exactly how I'd like it, however the problem is I can't 3d print it because when exported to STL the resulting file is empty anywhere that the loft overlaps the body. It does not become apparent until I try to slice the part in my 3d printing slicer (simplify3d).
I have tried combining but I get a boolean error, I also tried splitting and get an error as well.
I need help finding a solution where I can either re-create the part using a different method but achieving the same general shape, find a way to export it so that overlapping bodies are solid in the resulting file, or find a way to fix the part enough to get around the boolean error.
I tried creating the part using a series of spline connectors, patching the connectors and then stitching them together to get a new solid body, but I just cant get the shape I am looking for that way, the loft is the best shape.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
