Stop randomly highlighting faces

Using the chamfer and extrude tools usually [yes usually] results in faces being highlighted. Stop it. Nothing's selected and the top level component has visibility turned off. Fix this. What a jokeScreenshot 2025-04-08 at 8.44.17 AM.png

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this.

Logged as FUS-196115.  We'll try to reproduce it, but some details might help. Can you please post the results of your Fusion graphics diagnostic? (not system) I need to see what effects are on, etc.

I notice that the selection display style is set to Normal. Can you try turning it off?

I'm just trying to narrow down the factors at play here.

Changed just this to "Simple":

Screenshot 2025-04-09 at 12.55.57 PM.png

The highlighted faces that shouldn't be highlighted turned green upon closing the preferences window:

After saving and reopening the file this at least for now is not happening anymore.

Never changed that setting back, still simple display mode. Just opened another file I worked on this morning and it looks like the chamfer has a different appearance applied [Thumbnail looks normal as it was saved hours ago]:

Screenshot 2025-04-09 at 1.06.42 PM.png

Shows through when selecting the whole model:

Grey goes away when opening the appearances dialogue, looks like previous light grey highlight:

That grey isn't the black appearance though. Applied the other black appearance to a face and it's a different black:

Any chance you can share the model? I want to turn this into a more general testing request/bug report for a larger category, something like "face highlighting issues in macos"

Diagnostic log files attached.

In the below video you'll see me undo a bunch and then redo. When the video starts this face is dark grey:

Screenshot 2025-04-09 at 3.23.44 PM.png

When the video is done it's the color it should be:

Screenshot 2025-04-09 at 3.23.52 PM.png

Prior to the start of the video I made 2 cylinders to use as boolean tools. I then used the Combine tool to make them the shape I wanted. Once I moved them up I noticed that dark grey face.

Haven't changed any graphics settings.

Grey started after dissolving an extrude:

Missing faces after hiding a sketch:

Also in the second video nothing is selected but this and only this is underlined in the browser [although that happened prior to setting change 10 times a day every day for like the past 2 years]:

Screenshot 2025-04-10 at 8.23.27 AM.png

I'm reverting that setting back.
