Split body - which is which?

I have a complex timeline that starts with a split body. There are many actions applied to the half A and many to half B.

I went back and edited the split line. Then, half A was half B and half B was half A! The names of the bodies switched (although I can fix that) but more importantly my entire timeline was wrong - all of the actions applied to half A were now attempting to be applied to half B and vice versa.

How can I tell Fusion 360 which body should be which? It must use a hidden ID not exposed to the user to identify bodies. How can I prevent this in the future (I may want to adjust the split line again).

Edit: I tried reversing the normal of the splitting body - no beans.

Thanks!

there is no "hidden ID" here.  The problem is not as easy as it might seem on the surface.  We cannot use spatial information, which might seem an obvious way to tell the "right side", because bodies and components can move.  I'm not sure exactly what the algorithm does, but yes, there are cases where, under edit, the identity can flip.

Is there any way for the user to select the "polarity" as to ensure the timeline is kept?
