Split body doesn't work

Hello fusion experts,

I'm trying to design a prosthetic ''cast'' for my hand to make a system to have a better grip on my mountainbike handlebars. I Scanned my hand with a xbox kinect using Skanect software. Using Meshmixer I made a ''cast'' for my hand. Now in Fusion I want to ad a body with a flat surface to the cast so I can mount stuff on it.

I wanted to use ''split body'' to split the flat body using the cast shape, however this does'nt work. I get the warning as shown in the image.

ps. I allready used mesh to brep for the scanned part.

How can I fix this?

I hope you have some solutions for me 😄

Kind regards,

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you attach the design that you have already created in Fusion 360? You can export by File>Export *.f3d/*.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply.
Please attach original mesh body (*.stl).

@Anonymous ,

Are you looking something like this?

  1. Screenshot 2021-04-06 at 4.04.36 PM.png
    or
  2. Screenshot 2021-04-06 at 4.15.37 PM.png

Download the file from here (https://a360.co/2OpMLfn), Try Hiding bodies and components to see.

Let me know if you are looking for the same or something different.

No I want to split the added body and remove the part that goes through the ''cast''. So there is the ''cast'' with a body added to it. My hand has to fit into the cast.

YES!! Can you explain why it worked for you? So I can do it on my own when the shape will differ? This is exactly what I need. Thanks a lot!

Hi @Anonymous ,

I didn't use the split tool.

I have used combine tool

  • Step 1: Combine Body 1 & Body 2, Use Intersect, (Keep tool bodies). Output will be like this.
    Screenshot 2021-04-06 at 5.05.15 PM.png
  • Step 2: Combine Body 1 & Body 2, Use Cut, (Keep tool bodies). Output will be like this.
    Screenshot 2021-04-06 at 4.04.36 PM.png
  • Step 2: Combine Body 2 and the body created in Step 1. (Keep tool bodies). Output will be like this.
    Screenshot 2021-04-06 at 5.13.35 PM.png

Now all you need to do is removing the not required bodies and combine(Join) required bodies.

Here is the data set (https://a360.co/2OpMLfn)
