Spline points and tangent handles freezing and distorting spline

I'm brand new to F360 and CAD, on a trial, and eager to learn. I'm on lesson 11 in this course: https://f360ap.autodesk.com/courses/introduction-to-3d-modeling

Everything was going great until I went back to the sketch to edit the spline. After one movement of a tangent handle (or, in other cases, one movement of a point), the tangent handles along with the points freeze. There were also times where the spline went radically outside of where I expected, but I didn't get that in the video.

The video shows what has happened repeatedly in the last couple hours. I've tried closing and re-opening the file, shutting down and restarting F360, shutting down other applications, cleaning up my desktop, and even updating my OS!

Running on this machine with >2TB free space:

BTW, after this spline issue happened the first time, I closed F360 and then went to restart it, but the entire application and all of the files (which you see in the Data browser in my video) were nowhere to be found on my computer. That seemed odd. Is nothing stored locally?

Is all of the above expected behavior? Known issue?

Am I just a newb and this is user error? Is there something I can do to fix it?

I really want to dive back in and keep learning, and get a subscription, but I'm afraid of wasting my time if essential things are broken. I want to find a tool I can stick with for product design.

Thank you for any help you can give!

Splines: the Tangent Handles will- I know, this sounds absurd -automatically create Constraints to any Sketch element they touch; prevent this by holding the Control key while editing the Spline.

Fusion only stores Crash Recovery files locally, by default- everything is captured in their cloud; if you want a local copy, you have to manually "Export" it - Autodesk's not-so-cleaver rebranding of "save".

Hello @Anonymous

Welcome to the Fusion 360 and thank you for reporting the issue. Can you please provide us the f3d file so that we can take further look at it?

Thank you,

Best Regards

Thanks, Mavigogun. I appreciate you helping out a newb.

If you mean holding ctrl while editing the Spline at the stage I'm at, where I've already created the body and gone back to edit the sketch, that's not working for me. I've tried holding ctrl while manipulating the points and handles. What comes up is this menu.

I also tried shift, option, and command.

At this point, your Spline Handles have Constraints associated with them- you'll have to locate and Delete each.   One way to do that is to Right-Click on the Handle End Point and select Delete Coincident (as seen in your screen shot; on my system, that menu pops up in response to Right-Clicking, not the Control Key).

Mavigogun, you saved me! Thank you!

Really didn't want to keep plugging away without knowing it wasn't broken. 😄

Back to learning.
