SpaceMouse reverts to default axes settings when creating or editing a sketch

Hi all,

I just started having this issue in which every time I create a sketch, my SpaceMouse reverts all axes to their default actions. This happens when creating new sketches and when editing existing sketches. When I Finish Sketch, the axes return to the settings I have set for them.

My specifics:

- MacBook Pro M2 Max

- 3DxWare 10

- 3DxMacCore version 1.3.7.529 (529)

- 3DxWare version 10.8.7 (3836)

- SpaceMouse Pro Wireless Firmware 0.00 (not sure why 0.00)

- Fusion 2606.1.36 arm64 [native]

What I've done/tried:

- Checked for updates (MacBook, Fusion, and SpaceMouse)

- Restarted everything (MacBook, Fusion, 3DConnexionHelper)

- Reverted to Legacy SpaceMouse Driver in Fusion (behavior continues)

- Reverting the SpaceMouse to Default settings

- Deleted and reinstalled SpaceMouse software/drivers and Fusion

- Tried with and without Lock Horizon and Lock to Sketch plane checked in SpaceMouse Navigation tab

- Using the SpaceMouse with USB cable instead of wirelessly

- Searching the forums for possible solutions

Hopefully someone has an answer since this is causing me much frustration. I've had to resort to not using my SpaceMouse when sketching because after years of muscle memory, it's impossible to revert to whatever the default axes setting are. Thanks in advance for any solution or help.

Cheers!

My setting for Auto look at sketch was set to OFF.  I tried the other two settings and unfortunately the behavior did not change. My axes switched to default upon creating or editing a sketch, then back to normal (custom axes settings) once I finished sketch. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Rosie,

I tried the suggestion by @g-andresen but unfortunately it didn’t fix the issue. I’m still looking for a solution.

@BirdDogWoodworks1 I assume you are on the latest 2701.1.18 and still seeing this problem? If you dont mind can you do a small recording of what you see when you are inside of the sketch?

Hello,

I just saw that there's an update. I've been away for a week, so I've not used Fusion in that time. Let me update and see if that resolves the issue. As for a recording, I'm not sure what you would like me to record. When I'm in a sketch, everything looks/works normal, the only issue that the axes on my SpaceMouse revert to the defaults. Not sure how I can record that.

I will get back to you after the update.

Thank you!

Hello @RajkumarIlanchelian,

So I am now on 2701.1.18 but unfortunately the issue remains. Please advise on what exactly you'd like me to record and I will provide you with that. Thanks again!

This is the behavior that if you can record that would be great to see what you see.

I’m sorry if I’m being dense, but I don’t know how to record something that is happening behind the scene. As far as what I see, there is no difference. Fusion looks absolutely normal. What changes is that when I use my SpaceMouse the axes are set at default and when I finish the sketch, the axes return to my custom settings. If I record myself starting or editing a sketch, you wouldn’t see anything change, but if that’s what you want, I’ll do it.

Thanks again for trying to help me resolve this!

Hello all,

So I finally figured out why this is happening. Not sure when this change was made, but in the SpaceMouse settings, you must now adjust the axes settings for each "environments" in Fusion (Solid, Surface, Mesh, Form, Sheet Metal, Plastic and Sketch). Prior to this the custom axes applied to all environments, but now in the settings, it tells you which environment you're customizing the axes for. In the first picture I'm customizing the axes for the "Design SOLID" environment and in the second picture I'm customizing the axes for the "Design SKETCH" environment.

The crazy part is that if Fusion is NOT running and you go into the SpaceMouse settings, you can customize your axes as you'd like, but there is no way to choose which environment that customization will apply to. See here:

Screenshot 2026-03-18 at 13.50.07.png

As far as I can tell, the only way to access the different environments in the SpaceMouse settings is to have Fusion running and going into the environment you want to customize the axes for. In other words, when Fusion starts (because I default to the Design page) the SpaceMouse app sets that environment to the custom axes I set up while Fusion wan NOT running. The axes for the remaining environments stay on the default axes settings. In order to also have the axes during a sketch (or other environment) match my custom settings, I have to open Fusion, start a sketch, then go to the SpaceMouse settings, verify that it shows environment "Design SKETCH" then customize the axes to what I want.

To make things even more frustrating, I just tried going into the Mesh environment and, sure enough, the axes on my SpaceMouse are back to default settings. When I go to the SpaceMouse settings I now see a different environment ("Design Mesh") which has the axes set to default settings. So it appears you have to go into every environment that you use in Fusion, then go to the SpaceMouse settings in Fusion (while in that environment) to customize your axes. Honestly, what a horrible UI by 3DConnexion!

I hope this made sense and can help anyone running into this issue. Cheers!
