Solid Sweep Cut

When will we ever see the solid sweep cut on Fusion? Us manufacturers that use Fusion are always looking for ways to create models that are actually cut with a tool. Find myself always wanting to use that feature.

its not a common tool, but man is it powerful when you need it. I tried to create a second body and then use the second body to split the first body. but it just wont work.

As @sutherland- showed you simply need to change the sweep operation to 'Cut'

I think the question is to use a body as the cutting tool not a sketch. Can be done in Inventor but not Fusion.

Edges of existing 3D geometry can be used as the path for the cust sweep.

@P-BvanWyk You are using a sketch as the cutting tool not a body.

@HughesTooling thanks for that. I misunderstood and thought you wanted to use existing geometry for the path.
But even the other way arround I can still select the existing face as the profile.

If you want to use a body you can create a sweep as a new body and then cut using the combine tool.

No you're not getting it. This is not the best example but say you want to sweep a cylinder along a path, just using a flat rectangle will not give the correct shape through another body. With a more complicated tool it becomes an even bigger problem.

Here's a better example done with a simulation in the manufacture work space showing the shape a T cutter makes through a body.

@P-BvanWyk I am assuming you are replying to @HughesTooling . If that was your intention, please don't use the quick reply function at the end of a thread.

Mark Hughes gets it.

A swept cut command using a Construction body as the cutting tool instead of a sketch.

I think its more common for CNC manufacturing guys to know about this tool. Or people that have access to Solidedge, Solidworks, or inventor.
