So... I tried Onshape

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have kindly helped me over the years but especially @TrippyLightingwho has answered so many of my questions I've lost count, and @jeff_strater of Autodesk who has been incredibly helpful and patient despite my many rants.

After nearly eight years with Fusion 360, I decided to try Onshape a month ago and have been so impressed that I'm making the switch.

While Fusion 360 might have some advanced features (though I'm still evaluating that), I found its unreliability and frequently frustrating user experience to be major drawbacks. Core functionalities that 100% of users interact with, like Sketch, are surprisingly difficult to use – for instance, trying to delete a specific coincident constraint among many on a single point is a common headache. Managing the timeline is also cumbersome, with its single-level grouping and inability to move items in or out of groups post-creation. Organizing the browser and getting joints to behave predictably (they often flip parts) are other consistent frustrations.

In contrast, Onshape has been a breath of fresh air. While it might appear more basic at first glance, it has perfectly met my needs so far, and crucially, the user experience is incredibly polished. All those basic tasks I struggled with in Fusion 360 just work seamlessly in Onshape.

The difference is striking. I genuinely disliked modeling in Fusion 360 and would often avoid it, sometimes even resorting to sketching in PowerPoint for simple modifications because it felt easier. With Onshape, everything feels intuitive, and I'm able to get things done much faster. I'm sure I'll encounter issues eventually, but my experience so far has been bug-free and highly positive.
