Slow performance after latest update

I'm finding F360 extremely slow after the latest update. I'm also noticing a lot more hard drive activity as well since the last update - particularly "Node.js Javascript Runtime" is constantly writing/reading.

Hi @PinnacleMachine, thanks for posting.

I would check the following:

  • There is a new Service Utility option available since the last update. Check the "Repair issues without Uninstalling Fusion 360" section from this article. Maybe one of its' options will be helpful.
  • System requirements for Fusion 360 are frequently updated with next releases. It may be worth to check if you need, for example, to update your operating system or graphics drivers.
  • There are few graphics settings that can be change to improve your work with the program. Use your Fusion 360 Preferences (initials/profile picture icon in the top-right corner of Fusion 360 window):

There are also some settings available at the bottom of Fusion 360 window:

  • Try to perform a full clean installation of Fusion 360 according to the steps from this article.

Thanks, it seems the high DPI scaling may have been causing the issue - which is weird since I have had it turned on since the preview became available.

The issue still persisted. I think I may have finally sorted it out. In my Nvidia control panel I restored the settings for F360 to default and it seems to have helped. They must have been altered when the control panel app updated a month or so ago.

Any update for you? I've found persistent slowdowns since about the same time.  I upgraded my computer at the end of 2021 to help with slow-downs in Fusion specifically and was happy for about 2-3 months.  Now it constantly hangs and stalls trying to do fairly basic operations (from my perspective).  It is hard to quantify but absolutely feels like the program has gone backwards in recent months.

My system is an AMD 5950X 16-core, 64GBs of RAM, and a NVidia RTX3080, it should be more than enough for the fairly small scale designs I work with.  Vertices counts can add up, but Fusion really does not make use of the available resources.  It uses a heck of a lot of RAM at times but rarely uses more than 4 of my 16 cores. It is getting really old.  I've spent 5 hours today on a design that realistically should have taken less than 1.

Finally this morning the issue seems to be resolved. F360 was using a ton of resources writing to the HD non stop causing painfully slow performance.

This morning there was an update for Desktop Communicator and it seems to have completely resolved the issue.
