Sketch tool fails on curly braces

Looks like the sketch text tool can't handle curly braces, i.e. { and }. Using a curly brace causes every character in the text box to turn into the standard can't-render-this-character rectangle. When the curly brace is removed, the characters are rendered again. This happens regardless of which font face is used.

I'm on v2.0.5350, Windows 10.

(I'll upload a screencast later.)

Hi @bassbonematt

Thanks for posting. This is a known issue in the development teams backlog (internal reference FUS-18251). I've made a note of your comments on their ticket - unfortunately there is no workaround for this behavior at this time.

Just ran into this issue today.

I've discovered a workaround. If you place a backslash before each brace, it will render them correctly.

Wow thank you, the backslash method worked for me! I've been trying to crack this one for a while.

@paul.clauss Hi Paul, is there any update on this? Curly braces still break the text tool and it's been over 2 years since your last comment. The backslash workaround seems to work but for anyone who doesn't find this lone thread on this forum, they will be out of luck.

Thanks!

I'm amazed that the Fusion team doesn't take input sanitisation a bit more seriously! If this was a website bug, you'd be talking some serious hacking issues if /, {, <, ?, etc weren't properly escaped during input.

Replying to myself, I know, but I just got an email from Autodesk: "Re: Colour selector for "Cycle component colour"? (New message on the Autodesk forums or ideas)" where you can see they don't escape the & sign properly either when sending email!

I agree. There may be some potential for security issues via arbitrary code execution. Even if not, the broken text tool in Fusion is more than reason enough to fix the bug in my opinion.
