Sketch dimensions do not auto adjust

Setup:

I have two circles inside a rectangle that has fillets on all corners. Both circles have dimensions applied to each length of the rectangle, and each to the end of the rectangle it is nearest. [o  o] Similar to that, but the brackets are the rectangle. There is a dimension connecting the center of the circles together, too.

After applying the fillets, the dimension from the circle to the ends of the rectangle disappears. I recreated the dimension from the circle to the end of the rectangle.

Issue:

When I change the dimension connecting the two circles, I expect the rectangle to adjust as well so that the circle is always inside the rectangle, but it does not. If I make the dimension larger, then the circle moves outside of the rectangle.

I'm new to Fusion 360. I'm following a tutorial on LinkedIn Learning (Learning Fusion 360, by Taylor Hokanson, Chapter 2, Copy Struts). Any tips to fix this would be appreciated.

Hi,

The circle has no relation to the rounded rectangle
Please share the file

Ok, the moved circle is normal behaviour.

The centre point of the arc has to be made coincident to the circle centre point to get what you want.

Your slot should have been drawn as a Slot.

the circle added and snapped to the slot’s arc centre point.

The first dimension added in the movie is not required.

Blue, orange and white sketch articles should turn black at the time the sketch is finished.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Thanks for the quick replies!

It seemed to me that it should have been a slot, but I was following the tutorial since I'm new to this.

Here is my file.

Your instructor should know better.

Your original construction has 3 centre points over the top of each other at each end and were not snapped together by Fusion, you would have to do that.
