This occured after roughly sketching the slots and as I was mid-way through defining everything. However it's the first time I've encountered this quirk while doing so.
Dragging the slot around and then trying to apply the dimension worked without altering the slot dimensions.
Just wanted to report this unusual behaviour in case it was something doing something it shouldn't.
Not looking for solutions but thank you for the responses.
