Since last update Connexion devices not working properly

Immediately after the most recent update, both of my Connexion devices began behaving erratically. As soon as I open Fusion they seem ok. But shortly after I start to work in a sketch, the Spacemouse refuses to orbit, although it will zoom in and out. And the wheel button on my 3D mouse, which enables panning stops working. When I reboot Fusion, initially everything is back to normal.

Anyone else having this issue? and any thoughts welcome

Thanks

Do you Calibrate your 3DConnexion device every morning?

I operate 3D connexion devices on three rather different computers. I have only calibrated those once on initial installation years a go. Never had a problem with them.

Here is the 3Dconnexion list of discontinued devices. Please check if yours is on there.

Sorry if I wasn't clear but let me restate:

1. At all resolutions on all machines, I didn't see general slowness orbiting a single cube as your videos show. The iMac is retina, and the mini is connected to a 2k monitor.

2. All tests were done with spacemouse and enterprise devices

3. Legacy and Latest drivers were tested in Fusion preferences

4. Older Fusion build (from July) and latest build tested.

Only marginal gains were seen by turning off effects. I'm not recommending it unless you feel like trying it. The reason I mention it is to show this is not entirely a graphics problem, but does seem affected by graphics settings. As you have noted, resolution is a factor for you, which also indicates graphics hardware is struggling.

Did you try turning off the orbit center display? While you are there, check out the other settings in the new drivers. Maybe the key lies in the new 3Dconnexion driver settings?

(listed below as "rotation center")

Maybe a slight change when turning off rotation center, but it still feels it is jumping several frames (unlike with the legacy driver).

Maybe graphics hardware is struggling, but that is then a result of using the latest driver, as it super smooth when using the legacy driver (or using a normal 2D mouse).

I have the discontinued SpaceNavigator. Maybe that's that then. Maybe we should just leave it at this, and I'll continue using the legacy driver (which with have no issues, and am happy to use) as long as it is available. I'll buy a new mouse when the legacy driver is removed, or if the SpaceNavigator stops working for whatever reason.

Sorry there wasn't a better solution. If anyone else sees a similar issue, hopefully they will respond and we can look at more than one case. If there is something Fusion needs to fix that affects all devices, we will work on it. We've been working for a few years to improve the experience and I feel bad that improvement isn't felt by everyone.

Thanks for looking into this! I really appreciate it.

There will always be people complaining, no matter how good you do. Keep up the good work!

Quick update: There is now a report tracking the issue (FUS-141329). Please note, this is not a promise of action. We can repeat the problem and are looking into it at this point.
