Good morning.

Every time i start a new session of Fusion, it loads up, signs me in and I start to try to work. However, there is always something not quite right, ie- the save button is greyed out, the data panel is all white, I can't load existing files, etc.

If I sign out and then sign back in again, everything works.

Am I not doing something right at shut-down each night?

Hi @FMWfablab, would you be able to please provide diagnostic logs?

Are you behind a proxy or enterprise firewall? I would try the Network Test within the Service Utility to confirm no endpoints are blocked - it sounds like the application itself is loading, but some network calls are failing which would result in some disabled functionality.

To be honest, it has stopped doing it, so I don't know if I could replicate it. We had a power outage here in Houston so it could have been a matter of the old IT trick, "Turn it off and turn it back on". LOL!

Also having this problem. Most of the time when I log in, here's how my data panel looks. Fusion has been horribly broken since the latest update:

That's exactly what I was experiencing. Every time I opened Fusion, my data panel would be blank and I'd have to log out of my account and log back in. However, we had a power outage which force quit my iMac and I haven't had the same problem since. Maybe you need a hard shut down.

Thanks! I tried a hard restart yesterday (also on a Mac here) and unfortunately it didn't solve it for me.

Could you please provide more information about your system? Namely, graphics model and version of macOS.

Sure. Latest macOS (Sonoma 14.5). 13" MacBook Pro (MJ123LL/A) with M1 graphics.

Is this the internal or an external display? If external, is it connected directly to the GPU device, or is there a dock in the loop?

It's the internal laptop display.

About half the time when I launch Fusion, I get the blank (grey) data panel. When I quit and relaunch, sometimes it seems to fix it. Super random, there's no pattern I can see.

I appreciate all these details! I'm not yet able to reproduce it on my M1, but in the meantime, could you please observe a few more things?

  • Are the Notification Center and Comments frames also failing to load any contents?
  • Is there any change in behavior if you launch Fusion offline (either manually toggled in the UI, or disconnected from the network)?
  • Using the text command devoptions.webdeveloperextras /on, are you able to right-click the empty Data Panel and select Dev Tools?
    1. You will need to enable the Text Commands field to enter this under File > View > Show Text Commands
    2. After enabling, right click in the Data Panel and select Dev Tools (Punch out / Chromium LATEST)
    3. In the tab that opens, select Data View Application
    4. Check the Chrome console for any critical errors and please share them here (a DevTools warning about failure to load source map is expected)
  • Does logging out and in of Fusion without closing the application fix it, too, or is a complete app shutdown required to resolve?
  • If you are able to try another account on the same device, does it happen with that account, too?

Thanks for your patience while we investigate this further.

Answers:

1. Notification Center and Comments seem to be loading fine:

2. I haven't noticed any difference launching when connected to web vs disconnected.

3. Yes, I was able to right-click the data panel following the steps you enumerated. However the dev tab that launched in Chrome was totally blank, like this:

Screenshot 2024-07-15 at 4.33.05 PM.png

4. Yes, logging out and logging back into Fusion without closing the application DOES fix it!

5. I don't have a second Autodesk account to test on this device.

Thanks @edgemarston!

Good to see that it's just the Data Panel, that will help narrow things down on our end.

Would you please repeat the Dev Tools steps, but this time try the In-Product/Chromium v87 option, and let me know if that is blank, too? If it loads, the layout is slightly different, and you will just need to click one tab over from Elements to Console to see errors.

Warnings in yellow are to be expected, but critical errors in red are not. Thank you!

Edit: PS, we just dropped our July release, so give that a try, too, and please let me know if there is any improvement.
