Scale a component?

The tooltip for 'modify/scale' menu option says it can scale objects, bodies, or components. The manual page for 'scale' says it too. However, I cannot select a component from the Scale popup box, only bodies. Is there actually a way to scale an entire component?? If not, those tooltips/pages need to be adjusted.

The dialog box does not indicate you are selecting a component or a body.  All components have at least one body and it is using it as the scaling entity.

Yes - but if the component has more than one body, I have to individually select the bodies. The tooltip and man page indicate I can scale 'components', but it does not let me select at the component level. Your example video shows selecting the body. If I cannot select a component, it should not say I can in the tooltip/manpage.

The Fusion help clearly defines that to Scale a Component you will be selecting a body or multiple bodies.

Yes, but look at the TITLE of that page, it says "Scale components, bodies, or sketches". The tooltip for the menu for Scale says the same thing. THAT is what I am getting at. It is saying something that apparently is not true. You cannot scale an entire component.

You will agree you can scale a Component I assume.  So the title is correct.  When you follow the process, indicated in the help file, you are selecting as many bodies as necessary to accomplish the Component Scale operation.  If the tile left out the word Component, then no one would know it is possible to actually do it.

No, I don't see how I can scale an entire component - that would include scaling sketches, etc. That is NOT what it is letting me do. I went down this rabbit hole when I saw 'component' in the tooltip, and thought I could do that - scale everything in the component. If the tooltip just said scale bodies or sketches, it would have been very clear to me.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

I checked the help documentation, and it currently states that component selection is allowed. However, based on testing, this behavior is not consistent. In Parametric Modeling, components cannot be selected directly from the browser, whereas in Direct Modeling, component selection works as expected. Ideally, this behavior should be consistent regardless of whether you are in Parametric or Direct Modeling mode.

This appears to be an oversight in our help documentation, and we will work on correcting it. In the meantime, please refer to the steps provided above to select the entire component from the browser.

I hope this helps clarify the behavior.

So you are saying that if I go to direct modelling that I can select the component from the Scale popup?  If so, then changing the documentation AND the tooltip would help with the confusion, but why can't we select the component level in parametric modelling too? If that was the original intent, then the REAL fix would be to correct it so we can scale a component in either case.

I'm having a similar difficulty with scaling components. I'm building a tree in Fusion and inserting branch components, which I tweak (after breaking the link) to make each branch look different. I need to scale the branch to make it look consistent with the size of the limb to which it's attached. I am able to select all the bodies—branches, sub branches, twigs—and all the sketches, but not the planes. After scaling down, the sketches of my lofts appear unconnected to the bodies because the planes weren't scaled. So I would really appreciate the ability to scale every aspect of a component. And just to be clear, when I say scale a plane, I mean I want the position of a plane along a path to be scaled with the sketch path. My planes and sketches have become disconnected.
