Save As is failing

Worked on a design yesterday.  Opened F360 back up today to continue working on it and tried to Save As with a different name.  I get "You can only save this design in this folder" notice in the save dialog (with the wrong folder), so when I try to change the folder, I get

"Derive references can only be created within the same Hub and within the same Project. Please select a Design that meets these criteria."

There are no references or derives or anything of this sort in this design.   It's clean-sheet from yesterday.

Worse yet, the folder it says I have to save it in ISN'T EVEN THE ONE IT CAME FROM! and I can't SaveAs it to ANY folder, even the one it says I have to use all throw the error.  What is going on?

Can you please make a screen capture of the data panel details for the file? It should have a section for "used" and "used in" that show references.

I looked there and it's showing a milling machine model.  It doesn't use that model (I checked in Manufacture and it's not used) and there's no reason for it to depend on it since the mill is in my library anyway.  How can I get rid of it?

Did you ever insert the milling machine into this design? If you play the timeline, does this reference appear and then get deleted or removed? The error message you are seeing indicates the reference lives in the timeline of your model. You would see it if you play the timeline or step through it.

No, It shows nowhere in the timeline. The only time it was used was in the Machine for a Manufacturing Setup. I did try using the modeled machine to try it out in Manufacture, but realized it was annoying and pointless to see the machine moving around while simulating the part in the Manufacture workspace. I've replaced it in all machining setups, yet it persists as a 'uses' reference that I can't get rid of.

This is how versions work. What Fusion is doing here is allowing you to open an old version of that design that refers to the item you've deleted from it. Without that dependency, you might find yourself trying to open an old design version one day and unable to use it due to missing reference files.

In this case, since you only need a copy, try exporting the design and then uploading it to the correct new location.

By exporting the design it will remove dependencies on files inserted in older versions.

OK, I understand that, but its more than a little goofy.

• It's a machine, it's in my machine library.  That's where it should be managed, not per-part, per-part-version.   Save versions of it there if necessary.  Link to it from the part file.  Other parts that don't use the 3D machine model don't seem to care where they're saved.
• I don't need multiple, possibly different, copies of the machine scattered around in my files and if I change something on the machine, I certainly don't want to have to change it in all the files to match the new vise or 4th axis or fixture plate or whatever.
• Even if I did want to restore the old version and machine, is it going to restore all it's machine state when saved? Tool numbers and geometry?  Old Post Processor?  That's a file on my hard disk.  Without those being coherent it's pretty useless to go back to after much time at all.

In my workflow, I'm not seeing much upside and a great deal of downside to saving the machine per-part, per version, especially since it's just a 3d model downloaded straight from Autodesk.

Currently experiencing this same problem. Downloading and then re-uploading really isn't an ideal solution to this... The machine model should be one file that can be referenced by all files without causing a problem.
