Save as GRBL or something else to use in Lightburn software

Hi all.

Free account and design and 3d print stuff for in and around the house.

I also have a small DIY CNC machine.

I need to replace the aluminium plate onto which the router's bracket attached. But I need the 8 holes to be precise. So, I drew the plate and then carefully designed the two rectangles which corners will serve as markers/guides for the drill bits.

My initial idea was to design everything in F360, export/save it as something and then import that something into Lightburn, the software my 10W laser uses. I will then edge/engrave the 8 x 2mm holes onto the plate to be 100% sure that the holes line up correctly.

I am now at the point where I have saved the design as a STL to 3D print a 3mm thick template for the 8 holes.

Is there something else I can try/do?

Thank you very much.

Why not .dxf or .svg?

Thank you so much.

I have just exported it as DXF, Wasn't aware that I could.

SVG doesn't show up as an option when I right-click on the sketch. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks again.

Good news!...Yes .svg is available via a free Add-in but .svgs can be problematic with dimensions out not equalling dimensions in.

FWIW:

I also use another free add-in for simply exporting laser-ready .dxfs in the simplest possible way from planar faces of Solid Bodies:

I set kerf to Zero as Lightburn is very good in this regard.
