Request to not lock functions during automatic software updates that fail -- MacOS update related

I wanted to offer this, having managed lab operations and directed forward-facing computing at an institution in a previous life.

Right now, in the middle of a semester quickly approaching finals, Fusion360 is no longer allowing material downloads until the live update completes. The live update requires an operating system upgrade. I know the warning has been out there for a few months now, however for some - in both .edu and corporate - updating the OS is completely out of their hands (managed systems) and others it is entirely not worth the risk (killing other required applications or development environments).

If an update fails it shouldn't disable the product. It was working ten minutes ago. Wanted to put out feelers on this.
